February Follow Up

March 3 - Already another month of running has elapsed and it is time to assess the progress of my running goals.

1. Keep running: I ran 80.82 miles this month! My 2012 total = 173.26. That's 72.91 more miles than this time last year.

2. Run a race every month: I ran TWO races. I'm really liking the half marathon distance and looking forward to my next one in May at the Cox Rhode Races in Providence, RI.

8 miles on February 11

Half at the Hamptons - February 19

3. Improve the blog: Running Escapades on Facebook now has 25 likes!

4. Add another New England state to the places I have run: Nothing new this month. Still searching for something in VT, ME, or CT! Let me know if you have any recommendations, especially for the summer.

5.  Keep meeting new running friends: I was lucky enough to hang out with some other running bloggers, FitFluential Ambassadors, and a fellow Rhode Scholar after running the half marathon. (photo shared by Samantha)

6. Another impromptu workout challenge: I completed the FAB AB FEBRUARY challenge from Pinterest! Sit ups, push ups, and planks all month long. I highly recommend these workouts for anyone who is like me and not typically a fan of working out.

What did your February look like?

  1. Way to go with the mileage!

How far north in Maine do you want to go? Beach to Beacon 10K (in August) registration goes live on 3/15. It will close within 8 min for sure. It's in Cape Elizabeth. There are tons more coming up and I think it would be awesome if we were at the same race and we could do a meet up!

    1. Yea Jen! That looks perfect. Hubs & I are running RNR PROV half on the 19th, so if we can get registered for the 10K it will be a great training run. We're about 2 hours away, so we'd probably stay over on Friday night. Any suggestions? Looks like a pretty BIG race!

  2. My February was great! I PR'd at the half at the Hamptons and today I PR'd on my 5k!

There are a few races in July in Portland that my mom was telling me about. The only one I remember is a 5k on the 24th.

    1. Congrats on both of your PR's! It's an awesome feeling! Portland is definitely within hubs driving range...I'll have to look into that in case we don't get the Beach to Beacon 10K. Thanks!

  3. I just liked your FB page :) You have progressed so much with your running! 72 more miles than last year... my goodness that's awesome! I don't even want to compare my running to last year. I've just had so many ups and downs!

  7. A great summer race in CT is the Sea Legs Shuffle 10 mile or 5K, held in Guilford in August. Beautiful course and very well organized. There's also the Branford Road Race in June, which is a 5 miler. This one is very crowded so if you don't like crowds, it's definitely not for you! Not in the summer but a great race is the Niantic Bay Half Marathon or 5K at the end of September. Whatever you choose, have fun!

    1. Thanks Jen. I'm very interested in the Sea Legs Shuffle as a training run for the RNR PROV.

  8. Congrats on a great month! I need constant motivation to do strength work too, but I've been managing to get it in at least twice a week. Missed that ab challenge, looks like a good one!
